Product description
The Lockheed L-1011 TriStar, also known as the "Ten-Eleven," was a conventional three-engine wide-body airliner manufactured by Lockheed, and was also the manufacturer's last civilian aircraft. The TriStar was generally quite popular with pilots and was therefore nicknamed the "Lucky Ten-Eleven." Outside the USA, British Airways from Great Britain, among others, used the TriStar, and in Germany, Düsseldorf-based LTU relied exclusively on the three-engine aircraft for years. In June 1973, the first aircraft arrived in Düsseldorf, and LTU's first TriStar destination was Ibiza. Flight routes such as Düsseldorf - Munich - Recife were offered, as were routes from Düsseldorf to Palma de Mallorca. Finally, in 1996, after a total of 23 years in service, LTU retired its last TriStar.
