U-Boot Type VII C

The German submarine Type VII C was by far the most built submarine. This variant was put into service in April 1940 and was the backbone of the Battle of the Atlantic. Only one boat still exists as a museum ship in Laboe (Germany). Type VII were single-hull ocean-going boats, the characteristics of which were the external saddle tanks. More than 700 units have been put into service.
