It was in 1903 that Adolphe Clément, founder of the Clément-
Bayard auto find in association with Darracq, started an English
subsidiary-Clément-Talbot, Ltd. in conjunction with the Earl of
Shrewsbury and Talbot. After having sold cars under the Talbot name,
Clément-Talbot was bought by the Darracq Company in 1919. In the
following year, 1920, Sunbeam joined the other two firms and gave
birth to the British company STD (Sunbeam-Talbot-Darracq).
